Urgent or emergency care does not seem necessary. 9 month-old : most likely a congenital or developmental problem, rather than degenerative one, neoplasia not as likely, young, high activity level (trauma?) Rottweiler: large breed , hip problems prevalent ( often a congenital defect or nutritional mismanagement), high activity level, hardy (exposure to trauma?) Fed Iams large breed puppy food free choice: obesity a factor, role in pathophysiology ( developmental, trauma) vs. exacerbation of pre- existing condition( congenital problem/joint malformation)… laxity in management…excesses? Deficiencies? Awkward gait for a few weeks, refusing to go up and down stairs(2 weeks): time frame suggests non-infectious or chronic situation, possibly irreversible, progressive? dog is getting around though…thinking more about pain/instability rather than paralysis/ severe fracture Current on vaccines: does not support viral origin (rabies, distemper, etc.) HW preventative/Frontline: does not support possibility of heartworm infection or lyme’s disease ( Ixodes vector, a potential cause for hind limb lameness) Lame in hind legs: noticeably affects gait and animal’s willingness to be mobile, bilateral problem…stifles, hocks, hips; muscle/ligament problems; neurologic at level of spine Disproportionate weight carried on front legs: compensating for hind limb pain/weakness; suggests lack of primary problem in front limbs Minor clicking in elbow joint not associated with pain: probably not primary problem, but rather secondary problem resulting from #8 Hock and stifle joints normal: suggests hips are primary issue No cranial drawer: does not support cranial cruciate problem No joint effusion: minimal inflammation at this stage, may be early though in progression of disease No trauma: owner may not have witnessed, may still be a possibility Owner thinks right is worse than left: bilateral problem with one side more severely affected or right may be primary site of problem with problem in left being a compensatory issue; weakness in muscles/joints/ligaments/tendons/bone affecting one side first (progressive?) Trouble sitting: further suggests hind limb lameness, may be pain/instability/lack of proprioception, etc. Leash walked: Decreased unsupervised exposure to other animals, cars, people, etc Unable to feel right hip due to pain: sensory function intact, should sedate for further examination No muscle pain or atrophy found: suggests neurologic motor function intact; no muscle wasting, injury evident Rimadyl 10mg/kg with no obvious response: inflammation not only problem/mulitfactorial; underlying issue? ; patient may just not be responsive to that particular drug Lameness worse following exercise: exacerbated by increased movement/friction; malformation of joint? Inflammation? Lameness grade I of IV: not debilitating; may be early stages with possibility of getting worse Long bone palpation was normal in both legs: focuses attention to joints/ligaments/tendons/muscles Hip range of motion reduced to 110 degrees: may be due to pain, muscle contraction, animal’s will…sedate for further exam; indicative of joint articulation problem, ligament/tendon integrity? Ortalani positive for left hip: indicative of joint laxity; ligament/tendon integrity in question as well as joint conformation; muscle strength? Pain more obvious in extension than flexion: suggestive of which specific support structures are problematic ( faces of articular surfaces, extensor muscles/innervations/ligaments/tendons?) No neurologic deficits found: helps rule out sensory nerve dysfunction/damage; greater possibility of orthopedic mechanical problem ЬЭРСбв МНn o ј љ ~ О П ќ § a b Ѕ І Ж З " # v w м н JKєѕjkЫЬ./ёђ„…CDЧЩ§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§CJ2-ЭСв Нo љ П § b І З # w н KѕkЬ/ђ…DШ§§јјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјјј & F-ЭСв Нo љ П § b І З # w н KѕkЬ/ђ…DШЩќі№ъфоивЬЦРКДЎЈЂœ–Š„~xrlf ШЩћ„hАа/ Ар=!А"А# $ %А [4@ёџ4NormalCJOJPJQJmH <A@ђџЁ<Default Paragraph FontЩ "џџџџ џџ џџЗЩlЩ ШЩЩ№љ -7Јбе$%&\esy„ŠR\ьє K R ” Ђ ђ њ ў #/GQЫ˜@GјњхьЦаs ‚ $ Y _ А Н Ыџџ Math EmporiumKMacintosh HD:Desktop Folder:Student's Folder:AutoRecovery save of Document2 Math Emporium?Macintosh HD:Desktop Folder:Student's Folder:Group 11 Facts.txt џџџџџџџџџ„h„˜ўЦho()џџџџџџџ@€%%4WЋ%$јЩ @GTimes New Roman5€Symbol3 Arial3Times"qˆаh ЬQ†fЬQ†XNt! ZAll facts are non-critical in that they do not pose a life-threatening risk to the patient Math Emporium Math Emporiumўџ р…ŸђљOhЋ‘+'Гй0Иˆє$4 LX t € Œ˜ ЈА'[All facts are non-critical in that they do not pose a life-threatening risk to the patientsll Math EmporiumnoathNormalpMath Emporiumno1thMicrosoft Word 8.0r@ K @E-‡Р@ex‡РNtўџ еЭеœ.“—+,љЎ0P hpˆ˜  ЈАИР Ш /'Virginia Techr' Ќ [All facts are non-critical in that they do not pose a life-threatening risk to the patient Title ўџџџўџџџ ! Document.8
