First, the dog needs to be weighed and body condition score determined to allow us to select a proper weight loss program. Monitored exercise such as swimming and leash walking will aid in strengthening the supportive musculature of the stifle. Chrondroprotective drugs such as glucosamine and chrondroitin sulfate can be administered to help limit cartilage damage and degeneration. Corticosteriods should be avoided as they contribute to articular cartilage damage when used long term. On high activity or very painful days cage rest may be beneficial. An analgesic may be given to help control pain. Due to expense considerations, the client can also try Asprin on the most painful days. Asprin should not be given more than 2-3 days at a time. Considering severity and intermittant nature of the patellar luxation surgery may be an ideal treatment for this dog, in particular trochleoplasty.. This is an arthroplastic procedure which deepens the femoral trochlear groove. In terms of post-operative therapy, cryotherapy should be initiated immediately after surgery, 15-20 minutes every eight hours for three to five days. Also, range-of-motion exercises of the stifle joint should be initiated as soon as tolerated by the patient. It is important to encourage early, active use of the limb following surgery. Exercise should be non-strenuous for four weeks and any jumping should be prohibited. NSAIDS can be utilized for pain management and to reduce inflammation, particularly buffered or enteric coated asprin, 10-20 mg/kg, PO, every eight to twelve hours. !з й ¤¤CJ!"sз й ¤√¤ўўўД╨!"s┬╦H T v w Г Д З И з й №···········░╨/ ░р=!░"░#Ра$Ра%░ [4@ё 4NormalCJOJPJQJmH 0`0 Heading 1$@&CJ<A@Є б<Default Paragraph Fontй       йй й й zМЫжл╖>G:@МШ▒╣°"GP}ИpvЕЗИИлг░#2жл   Math EmporiumKMacintosh HD:Desktop Folder:Student's Folder:AutoRecovery save of Document1 Math EmporiumGMacintosh HD:Desktop Folder:Student's Folder:management plan gr11-2.txt Math EmporiumLMacintosh HD:Desktop Folder:Student's Folder:AutoRecovery save of management Math EmporiumGMacintosh HD:Desktop Folder:Student's Folder:management plan gr11-2.txt @АИИP▐╨ИЗЛ■ яйp@GРTimes New Roman5РАSymbol3Р Arial3РTimes"1И╨hФRPФR&!е└┤┤А0d╨  Management Plan Math Emporium Math Emporium■  рЕЯЄ∙OhлС+'│┘0lИРи┤╠╪ш ( 4 @LT\d'Management PlananaMath EmporiumnathNormalpMath Emporiumn2thMicrosoft Word 8.0d@d№N@6н╬ёЩ└@З_°Щ└■  ╒═╒Ь.УЧ+,∙о0 hpИРШа и░╕└ ╚ ф'Virginia TechPм Management Plan Title ■    ■   ■    !"■   ¤   %■   ■   ■                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Root Entry         └FАn\К╬Щ└'А1Table         WordDocument        SummaryInformation(    DocumentSummaryInformation8            CompObj            X                        ■                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           ■      └FMicrosoft Word Document■   NB6WWord.Document.8
