Case 4 facts hit by a car 3 days ago- trauma and time frame of injury not put weight on his hind legs- localizes to hind leg, non- weight bearing lameness 17 month old-fully grown, little to no further growth of bones and growth plates are ossified His condition has stabilized and his clinical signs are now no worse than when he was first hit- condition has not worsened with time may have been affected by therapy T 99.3 P 60 R 18- WNL Weight 67 lbs- condition of dog normal Addresses hind limb innervation : -superficial and deep pain sensation in both legs and the tail / perineum -Reflex responses in the hind legs are difficult to evaluate (responses are inconsistent and are not repetitive -Motor function is present in both hind legs -No pain or bone distortion could be palpated along the spine Superficial skin abrasions on the lateral side of the R hind leg- trauma Fracture bones/ soft tissue damage of hind limb: -Leg is swollen distal to the stifle -L hind leg is swollen all the way down to the toes -Palpable instability of the bone of the R tibia -Tibia does not appear to be continuous in the midshaft area -Joints of the R hind leg appear to be normal -Upper L hind leg is very swollen and bone continuity of the -upper femur is suspect because of the abnormal movement of the limb and occasional crepitation -Source not localized to femur, hip joint or pelvis -Bones and joints of the remainder of the leg appear to be intact and normal apart from diffuse SC fluid accumulation
