I will describe you also some needs the field scientist would like to have and what I saw that could be usefull. I hope this will help you to prepare your trip. Mainly I am working with a geologist (Oz) who is doing geologic exploration of the crater. We made 9 trips together lasting between 3:30 hours to 7:30 hours. His job consists in : finding interesting area on map or from the top of one hill reaching this point exploring the area gathering sample documenting the site I have a detailled report of each of those trips (action, time, distance,...). This was the first part of my job here. We made some simulation with me as a robot. I played the following role : site documentation, tools carrier, caretaker. We worked in two different environments : -> flat with half buried colored rocks on a grey ground -> outcrop o the middle of hills, very difficult access, What will be usefull for him (after discussion with Oz and facts from the fields): -> something to check the surrounding area of a rock he is studying to check is there something different, -> something to reach an inaccessible position of an outcrop (this guy tend to climb all the time) -> a scout to find a safe path in the mud sometimes -> something to cover in a systematic way the ground to check rock, If you want to discuss in more details some points I will be fine to do that.
