Vorticity

In meterology, vorticity refers to a small parcel of spinning
air. The direction of spin is corkscrew-shaped, either rising
or falling. A very important relationship exists between
divergence aloft (in which the spinning air is rising) and
convergence aloft (in which the spinning air is moving
downward).
