Squall Lines

A line of thunderstorms is called  a squall line. Squall lines
may form either right at a cold front (called ordinary squall
lines - whose thunderstorms appear like the less severe air-mass
thunderstorms) or up to 300km ahead of a cold front. This latter 
type is called a pre-frontal squall line and may display the 
most severe weather.
