Scenario Design

Top management support is critical for the success of any e-learning initiative within an organization. Most managers overlook the possibility of creating high-quality, engaging learning content. They compromise on quality and implement e-learning content that results in low-cost page turner courses. This is one of the main reasons why e-learning programs fail.

Learning can be made much more interesting than just flipping pages, viewing some static graphics and taking multiple choice questions at the end of each module.

Scenario-based learning involves:

  • Creating engaging learning content.
  • Having minimal textual reading.
  • Providing relevant scenarios (scenes) on screen as a story.
  • Creating situations that make learners think and decide. Learners are drawn into the learning environment by the realistic problem situations presented to them. The learners’ choices alter the subsequent scenes.
  • Providing story-based and problem-based interactive learning.
  • Providing indirect feedback, that is, not giving direct feedback for decisions made by learner as “Correct” or “Try Again”. Indirect feedback is shown normally as changes in the subsequent scenes or storyline and dialog.

4C has custom developed scenario-based learning modules for the corporate and the K-12 segment.
