Learning Issues: 1) Find out whether TPR is within normal limits for a 3 day old foal. 2) Learn what it means that foal got more lame after manipulation. 3) What is importance of pitting edemaÉexactly what defines pitting edema. 4) Find out when these clinical signs began and whether this is an acute or progressive condition. 5) Reviewing general anatomy of fetlock to be familiar with landmarks for nerve block and also to understand more of what could Ògo wrongÓ in fetlock areaÉrefresh our joint anatomy. 6) Looking up information on nerve blocksÉfetlock areaÉHeal, pastern/foot & fetlock blocks especially. 7) Create differential list of possible causes of fetlock inflammation ie synovitis, septic arthritis, damaged proximal sesamoids 8) Review diagnostic ultrasound of fetlock so we could understand what we were looking at if presented with an ultrasound of fetlock. 9) Also familiarize ourselves with radiographs of joint so weÕll be prepared to read radiographs of fetlock. 10)
