Lame on R hindÑlameness could be due to trauma (fracture, puncture wound), neoplasia, inflammation 3. Mare possibly stepped on foalÕs footÑpossibility of trauma 4. All systems normal except musculoskeletalÑnot a systemic problem because localized to one place unilaterally, could be possible but not likely 5. Toe touching on R rear limbÑdifficulty weight-bearing, supports lameness 6. Resents palpationÑindicates pain, supports inflammation 7. No foreign bodies in footÑeliminates puncture wound in hoof/foot 8. Does not resent hoof testersÑnot a problem with the hoof 9. Worse after palpationÑinjury/disease irritated by palpation 10. No instability or crepitance upon palpationÑindicates short term because lack of extensive problems
