Management Plan At this time the patellar luxation is mild, so we recommend a conservative treatment. TitanŐs activity should be restricted, especially her playtime with the other dog in the household. If needed, she can be placed on an NSAID such as Rimadyl for pain. She should be started on a weight reduction program, as obesity will exacerbate the condition. We also recommend that she be rechecked every six months to assess her condition. If the grade II patellar luxation worsens, surgery is recommended. Appropriate surgeries at this stage would be either a medial release or tibial crest transposition. However, if the luxation worsens to a grade III or grade IV, lateral capsulectomy, trochleoplasty, or distal femur/proximal tibia corrective osteotomies may be necessary.
