Critics denounce blogging as uninformed rantings or idle musings, time-wasting for companies, undermining professional journalism, and mere gossipy fluff for opinion junkies or confessionals for shameless exhibitionists. Supporters claim that blogging is about community building, learning to express oneself, connecting with people and commenting on ideas, a new form of information sharing, personal ownership of the web and so on.
