Determination of Sponsor and Benefits for Events: A 'sponsor' for each event must be identified. The sponsor will usually be the organization with the strongest mission connection to the event. The sponsor's responsibilities will include demonstrating a relationship to the applicable criteria, MA operational compatibility, advocacy with NASA, oversight and support for planning, and implementation of the activity unless other arrangements are agreed upon. All potential uses of Moffett facilities should clearly meet one of the following three criteria: I. Ames Mission Benefit: A proposed event may support, either directly or indirectly, an Ames or NASA mission. In general, and for the purposes of this policy, events can contribute to a NASA mission in one or more of the five categories below. Other types of contributions are possible: * Research Program(s) * Educational Outreach * Center Operations * Technology Commercialization * Public Outreach/Community Relations II. Resident Agency Mission Benefit: A proposed event may support the mission of a Resident Agency. In this case, the Resident Agency will act as the event sponsor. The Resident Agency will be responsible for organizing, staffing, and managing the activity, and reimbursing Ames for any costs incurred in supporting the event above normal operations costs. III. Community Benefit: It is possible that an activity may be of general benefit to Ames Research Center and Moffett Field by supporting relations with our surrounding communities. In this case, Code DX would be the sponsor for the activity. It is important that the benefit to Ames be clearly identified beforehand and that Code DX be involved from the beginning. Any proposal of this sort that is not supported by the Office of Development and Communication will not be held.
