This Concept Map, created with IHMC CmapTools, has information related to: Lab 3- Eye Surgeries, Third Eyelid Removal sectioned into Post up care, 2nd Clamp 3rd Clamp, Pre-op care consisting of Drugs, Post-Op Drugs Apply the following daily Matabicheras Fort Dodge Aerosol Used as a healing agent & larvicide repellent. Contains 34 ml/100ml of Suppona and 51 ml/100ml of Vapona, two phosphorous products as well as Gentian Violet, a healing agent that leads to recovery of tissue. The Vapona kills any larvae that may be present by immediate paralysis, while the Sapona, by its residual power, propels and protects against reinfestation., V-Plasty Wedge Resection Pentagonal resection, Removal Surgeries Including Exenteration, Pack orbit for 5 mins. Then ligate any bleeders before closing STEP 8 Palpate remaining orbital tissue and bone for addtional evidence of neoplasia, Removal Surgeries Including Enucleation, The entire contents of the eye, i.e. the vascular coat, lens, retina, viterous etc. are removed. STEP 2 A spherical silcone prosthetic implant is placed within the scleral shell. The outer shell of the eye and the eyelids are left intact., The optic nerve is severed. STEP 5 Following removal of the globe the eyelid margins, the conjunctiva, the third eyelid and its gland are removed., CLOSURE There are two layers that must be closed; 1) SQ tissue: use a 2-0 absorbable suture, simple continuous. 2) Skin: use a 0 non- absorbable suture, interrupted horizontal mattress. Infraorbital Prostesis may be used in closing. See >>, Corrective Surgeries such as Eye-lid Tucking, Nerve Blocks notably 4 point nerve block, Enucleation Indications 1. For the Tx of a painful, blind eye. 2. For the Tx of an inoperable intraoccular neoplasm., Enucleation Indications 1. For the Tx of a painful, blind eye. 2. For the Tx of an inoperable intraoccular neoplasm., Closure of the orbital is acheived in 3 layers. The 1st layer apposing the tissue close to the orbital rim is commenced loosely. STEP 3 Once the suture has progresed 1/3 of distance to be closed, insert implant into orbit after sterlising it and rinsing in sterile water., Third Eyelid Removal sectioned into Procedure, Perform a lateral canthotomy to allow better access. STEP 2 Grasp conjunctiva & incise for 360 degrees around the globe approx. 5 mm from the limbus., Third eyelid flap How? Prep: Clip the skin around the eye and perform the regular scrubs Procedure: The third eyelid can be sutured ti the dorso-lateral conjunctival fornix or thr dorso-lateral bulbar conjunctiva. A detailed procedure is shown in the linked video The flap can be left on for 7-14 days, Proceedure STEP 1 The entire contents of the eye, i.e. the vascular coat, lens, retina, viterous etc. are removed.
