Perform a skin incision around the base of the udder, making sure to leave sufficient skin flaps to close the area after udder removal, Step 8 ???? Wound dressing and post op care should follow, Step 6 ???? To begin closure, the submucosa should be sutured with 4-0 absorbable suture material in a simple continuous pattern, Locate and double ligate the external puedenal artery and vein with a Miller's knot using 4-0 absprbable suture like Vicyrl or Monocryl. ???? Some surgeons use a transfixating knot here, but we have learnt that the Miller's knot is sufficent and will NOT slip like the transfixating, Step 7 ???? To close the skin, suture with non-aborbable suture material using a horizontal mattress pattern, Mastectomy in Goats ????
